Set credentials for a connection in a shared dataset

When a dataset is based on a data connection, the dataset owner may require you, as a recipient, to provide your credentials to access data from that connection. Such data connections are marked with Requires credentials.

Prerequisites
  • A dataset based on a data connection has been shared with you.

  • You have all the necessary role permissions granted by an administrator in Access Manager.

Procedure
  1. On the sidebar, click Datasets.

    The Datasets pane appears.

Tile view is selected by default.

  2. Click the Shared with me tab.

  3. For the dataset, point to More actions, and then click Data connections.

    The Dataset connections dialog appears.

  4. For those data connections that require your credentials, point to More actions, and then click Set credentials.

  5. In the connection details dialog, enter your credentials.

Note: The other connection details are non-editable.

  6. Click Test Connection.

A message indicates whether the connection to the data source was successful.

  7. If the connection is successful, click Save.

The data connection is saved, and you can use the shared dataset as needed.
